We at OPSIS Foundation are working to create OPSIS School of Learning for exceptional care and educational needs of Kids with different abilities. It becomes really difficult to find a good school for a kid with different abilities. It is crucial to find an environment where they receive real care, the right support, specialist attention, as well as an excellent education. OPSIS Foundation is working to open a special school for 2-16 Years + students with different abilities. The school will have residential facilities. OPSIS School of Learning will be open for young people from entire India and overseas.

OPSIS Foundation will harness our in-house expertise to challenge and nurture our students to help them lead the fullest and most fulfilling life possible. We are working on a module to create a environment where child will be safe and happy, with all aspects of their well being catered for.

OPSIS School of learning will have a holistic & multi-disciplinary approach, which encompasses education, residential and pastoral care, therapy, medical support and independence training to deliver the best disabled education.


Why do we say “People with Different abilities “

In words of Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi – “The way we describe a group of people greatly influences our attitude toward them, and consequently, how society treats them. The mindset towards the differently-abled people must change and the word ‘viklang’ (disabled) should be replaced with ‘divyang’ (endowed with special faculties). “We see a person’s disability with our eyes. But our interaction tells us the person has an extra power. Then I thought, in our country, instead of using the word ‘viklang,’ we should use the term ‘divyang’,

We at OPSIS Foundation believe that the term “people with different abilities, besides being a sign of respect, emphasizes the strength of all individuals, and allows any special treatment to be given according to the needs of each individual, and not according assumed limitations.

How can we help in changing our behavior towards people with different abilities. Remember that people with different abilities:

1.Understand more than we think they do. If they are no able to talk, look at them and talk directly to them. Ask them questions they may reply with a yes or no. Include these people in the conversations with the people responsible for their care and education.

2.When we include people with different abilities in society, we should introduce them with their names, as we do it with everybody else. For example: “He is Chandra”.

3.Wish to be treated as any other person of their same age. They also wish to be included in order to learn how to be socially accepted.

4.Don’t want to be the family’s center of attention, but they do want to be part of their activities, so that they can improve their communication and socialization skills.

5.Need to hear praise from their parents and teachers for their achievements. Encouragement helps them keep trying. Our positive or negatives comments have a great influence on their motivation.

6.Shouldn’t be present if people are talking about the things they can’t do or they do wrong. This lowers their self-esteem and the motivation to be independent and successful in life.

7.Want their parents to work as a team with their teachers in order to increase their learning progress and achievements in life.

8.Will trust in themselves if their family, friends, teachers and coworkers believe they can achieve. If we do not expect much from them, then they will no believe in themselves.

9.Want their education to start early because they may take a little longer to learn, but they can do it and therefore need to start when they are babies.

10.Want the same love and protection other kids get. Overprotection and excessive love will prevent them from being independent and successful in life.
